Quick re-cap on the the first event of the year. Freeze Your Butt Off 2008 was originally scheduled for a location in the Berkshires, but a change of venue moved the contest to the Maynard Rod & Gun Club. The move ended up being easier for us and some team members were able to sleep at home. After a pot luck dinner with the teams and other NEBS members who stopped by, we started cooking in the cold. It took a little while but we figured out how to get the propane heater working and then tent quickly reached 90 degrees. The cooker maintained temp all night and some of us stayed up all night along with it. Things warmed up in the morning and continued to get hot all the way to the awards ceremony. We were quite happy with our Reserve Grand Championship! We also took first place in a category for the first time ever (pork). Congrats to all the teams who braved the cold and enjoyed great results. See ya at Snowshoe!
